As Central Florida students head back to school, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is highlighting updated Back-to-School Mental Health Resources designed to support students, teachers, and families in navigating mental health challenges throughout the academic year.
The enhanced toolkit provides practical strategies, expert advice, and quick tips tailored to the needs of each group:
For Educators: Teachers are often the first to notice changes in a student’s behavior or emotional well-being. NAMI’s educator resources aim to help create safe, supportive classroom environments while integrating mental health and wellness practices into daily routines.
For Parents and Caregivers: The materials offer guidance on fostering open, judgment-free conversations about mental health, as well as building healthy wellness habits at home.
For Students: Resources focus on early intervention, recognizing signs of stress, preventing burnout, and knowing when and how to seek help.
To encourage community-wide support, NAMi has also developed a Field Toolkit that makes it easier for schools, parents, and community organizations to share these targeted resources with students, trusted adults, and local networks.
According to NAMI, starting the conversation about mental health early—and keeping it ongoing—can help prevent more serious challenges down the road, improve academic outcomes, and foster a safer, more inclusive school environment.
