The YMCA of Central Florida, in partnership with the Orlando Magic, recently celebrated the grand opening of a new Teen Center at the Winter Park YMCA. The event, held on Thursday, October 23, marked the unveiling of a newly renovated space designed to support the YMCA’s growing teen programming and provide a safe, engaging environment for young people.
The initiative began when the Orlando Magic offered to help the YMCA reimagine and transform an existing area within the family center. Together, they converted the former Y-Explorers space into a modern, multifunctional Teen Center that will serve teens and older youth. The redesigned area now features interactive activities, leadership programs, and an e-sports section — all aimed at encouraging social connection, personal growth, and a sense of community.
To commemorate the grand opening, the YMCA of Central Florida and the Orlando Magic hosted a special celebration followed by a basketball clinic. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., and the basketball clinic ran from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., offering teens the opportunity to learn new skills and engage directly with representatives from the Orlando Magic.
The new Teen Center reflects both organizations’ ongoing commitment to empowering youth and fostering a positive environment where teens can thrive, build friendships, and stay active in meaningful ways.
