Event Details

WHAT:           On Saturday, April 27, three HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals in Central Florida will partner with local law enforcement to host collection sites for the 26th Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The initiative is organized in April and October each year by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to safely dispose of expired, unwanted and unused prescription medications. The initiative is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid misuse and the importance of safe and proper disposal of unused or expired medications.

During the last National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in October 2023, more than 4,600 sites across the country collected nearly 600,000 pounds of medications and medical supplies for disposal.

Drive-through sites at three HCA Florida Healthcare facilities, staffed by law enforcement officers, will be open to the community to safely dispose of their unwanted prescription drugs.
