Orlando Area Historical Rose Society’s next meeting, will be on Sunday, November 5, doors open 2:00 pm, and the meeting starts at 2:30.

Guest speaker, Theresa Schretzmann-Myers, will give us an update on the restoration of the historic Nehrling Gardens in Gotha, Florida.  In the early 1900’s, botanist, Henry Nehrling, moved his family by ox cart to land he had purchased in Gotha in 1885 to study tropical plants.  Mr. Nehrling was one of the most important figures in Florida horticultural history. The gardens and his home have been under restoration for the past 10 years and are now open to the public for special and educational events.

 

Orlando Area Historical Rose Society meets at Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 North Forest Ave., Orlando 32803. Doors open 2:00 pm, program starts 2:30 pm. FREE admission, FREE parking. OAHRS Program info: 407-497-1639, Leu Gardens reception desk: 407-246-2020.
