On Friday, November 10, at 10 a.m., the City of Winter Park will present its 7^th Annual Veterans Day Celebration – “Honoring Winter Park Heroes.” This event will be held in honor of all veterans at the Winter Park Community Center Ruby Ball Amphitheatre located at 721 W. New England Ave. Veterans that have served are invited to attend for our community to pay tribute to their dedicated service to our country.

At 9:30 a.m., the public is invited to visit with organizations and services that offer resources specifically for veteran needs, as the VFW Post 2093 Community Band entertains guests. Beginning at 10 a.m., the official program will include musical tributes, remarks by Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary and featured speaker Colonel Jay Voorhees, and the recognition of veterans according to the various military branches served.

This year, in addition to honoring all veterans, the members of Vietnam Unforgettable Memories Foundation will commemorate the 50^th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. It is with deep appreciation that Christina Doan,founder of the foundation, and her team, will present the Department of Defense 50th Anniversary commemorative pin to all Vietnam era veterans.

The first recipient of the 50^th Anniversary commemorative pin will be Colonel Donald L. Stiegman, United States Marine Corps (Ret.). Col. Stiegman served 35 years of active duty, including two tours in the Republic of Vietnam and flying for the Blue Angels. His personal awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 31 Awards of the Air medal, and numerous campaign and unity awards.

The Veterans Day Celebration continues at the Winter Park Golf Course, located at 761 Old England Ave., with a Veterans Golf Play Day. Tee times begin at 12:30 p.m. and veterans play for FREE. Reserve your tee time for a patriotic round of golf by Tuesday, November 7, at 407-599-3419.
