The Mammo Call Back…

The doctor looks at the x-ray of the female mammary glands. Hardware examination of the breast.

OK–SO….the good news is that I got my Mammo and I then had another Mammo!

That’s right…I received a call to come back for a follow up mammogram. STOP RIGHT THERE…this does NOT mean I have breast cancer. In fact, this follow up is fairly common and according to the American Cancer Society, “FEWER than 1 in 10 women called back for more tests are found to have cancer.” As I write this blog, I too am in the majority of women that were called back and do NOT have breast cancer.

My experience with the team at AdventHealth during this process was amazing. It was explained to me immediately that there are several factors that can contribute to needing to be retested.  In my case, the first round of pictures were not as clear as the radiologist would have liked–this is GREAT – You want to have your mammograms at a facility like this! The team of experts at AdventHealth strive to give you the best that science, technology and their expertise allows.

As we put summer vacations on the top of our list and then for many women head into the back to school craze, PLEASE…do one thing for yourself..

DON’T DELAY! Go GET YOUR MAMMO! AND then Get that MANI!
