As the federal government shutdown continues to affect workers across the nation, the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC—The Reliable One) is stepping up to support those in Central Florida facing financial hardship.

OUC announced a series of relief options designed to help federal employees and contractors manage their utility costs during this challenging time. Recognizing the disruptions in income many families are experiencing, the utility provider is offering flexible payment options and access to emergency financial assistance.

Among the available support programs are:

  • Payment Arrangements and Extensions: OUC customers can request extensions or set up customized payment plans to stay current on their bills.

  • Project CARE: This bill payment assistance fund helps customers facing temporary financial struggles. Administered by Heart of Florida United Way, Project CARE is funded by contributions from OUC employees and customers.

  • OUC Power Pass: A flexible prepaid billing program that allows customers to pay for utilities on a “pay-as-you-go” basis, eliminating deposits and reconnection fees.

OUC encourages affected federal workers and contractors to reach out directly for assistance. Customers can call 407-423-9018 or visit ouc.com/assistance to learn more about available programs and eligibility requirements.

With these efforts, OUC reaffirms its commitment to standing by the Central Florida community—especially those navigating unexpected financial disruptions during the federal government shutdown.
