Event Details

In celebration of the spirit of the season, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Full Sail University and Rollins College come together in collaboration to present Songs of the Season. The free holiday concert will take place on Dr. Phillips Center’s Seneff Arts Plaza on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 6 p.m. The event is the first product of the partnership between the three organizations, coming together in commitment to provide members of the community with opportunities for creative expression through professional tools and support. The concert will boast over 80 vocalists and 28 instrumentalists from Rollins College, an appearance by Dr. Phillips Center’s premiere performance group, Docs & Dellas, all supported by Full Sail’s state-of-the-art music production capabilities. The combined efforts strive to spread holiday cheer and bring the community together with a varied selection of seasonal music from around the world.

“This partnership has been in the works for some time, and we are thrilled that the first project for the community to enjoy is a way to ring in the holiday season, all together,” says Kathy Ramsberger, president and CEO of Dr. Phillips Center. “We’re combining the centers of excellence from the three organizations: Full Sail’s unbeatable production and technological skill, Rollins’s exceptionally trained talent, and the arts center’s dedicated producing and marketing teams. The Seneff Arts Plaza has been referred to as ‘the community’s family room,’ which was the intention from the very start of this project. We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring Central Florida together in a joyful way to enrich our community spirit by providing a platform for these diverse and wonderful artists.”

“Full Sail is delighted to be working in collaboration with the Dr. Phillips Center and Rollins College” said Garry Jones, President of Full Sail University. “The opportunity for the technically adept and production oriented Full Sail students to get hands-on experience working with talented Rollins College musicians is a totally synergistic moment. Couple that with the artistically and technologically savvy design of the Dr. Phillips Center, and you should expect a great event and lasting memory for the Central Florida community.”

“Upon joining Rollins College three years ago, I was immediately impressed with the cultural assets of Central Florida and the vast potential for collaboration,” said President Grant Cornwell.  “With this event, we will each share our strengths to create something wonderful for the community that no one of us could do without the others. I know our students will count this performance as a highlight of their Rollins education, and we hope that Songs of the Season will become an annual holiday tradition for Central Florida and Rollins College.”
