John C. Hitt announced his plans to retire from his role as the University of Central Florida president on Oct. 24, 2017, a decision that will be effective on June 30. As Hitt's tenure comes to a close, let's take a look back at how UCF has grown under his leadership.

The Oviedo~Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce hosts the East Side Regional Hob Nob every election year. This year, the event is presented by The University of Central Florida and will be held at the UCF FAIRWINDS Alumni Center on the UCF campus from 5-8:30 p.m. on July 9.
For the fourth consecutive year, CFHLA awarded a Don and Lorraine Freeberg Foundation full-ride student scholarship for $40,000 to a local high school senior who will be attending the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management upon graduation. Additionally, a new multi-year, $10,000 Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort scholarship was established.
The World Ballet Competition and All Stars Performance will return to Orlando on June 11. The annual international dance event opens at the Bob Carr Theater on June 11, 2018, for five days of competitive and juried solo, partnered and ensemble performances. The ballet dancers represent 25 countries and will compete for prizes.
